Red Bean – Low-Fat Source Of Protein

Red bean home recipes in China are also referred to as aduki or azuki bean recipes. These are small red-colored beans that originate right from China. However, not just in this country, it is widely used in many other Asian countries as well. The Chinese prepare red bean recipes in their homes because they know that these beans are good sources of potassium, phosphorous and iron. Also, the Chinese know that they are an excellent source of low-fat protein and dietary fiber. Even, these beans are known for the presence of many micronutrients, thereby making them a part of Chinese cuisine.

If you wish to prepare Chinese red bean recipes in your home, you should know one thing before you buy these beans. Even though they are simply referred to as red beans, you should not confuse them with kidney beans that will have twice the size of red beans and has the shape of kidneys. You will find both fresh and dried red beans in stores. If you choose the latter, you should soak them for a few hours before you cook. You can cook it by soaking in adding the soaked beans in boiling water with a little salt. Once it cooks, you can filter out the excess water and can add the cooked beans to any of your favorite recipes.
